Position Title:   Deputy Director (Child Protective Services)

Open Date:         April 3, 2017

Close Date:         April 24, 2017

Description: 

This is a full-time, exempt, Unclassified position with administrative responsibility over the Child Protective Services unit.  The employee, under general supervision of the Human Services Director, directs divisions/departments assigned overseeing the activities to include personnel, program compliance and budgeting; and develops and implements agency and state policy, rules and regulations.

Qualifications:  Education/Experience:

  • Preferred Master’s degree in one of the following or related fields: public administration, human services, human resources, social work, education, or business management.  Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and effective use of technology.
    Minimum of three (3) years related work experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities in supervision and social services issues:

Other Requirements:

  • Valid State of Ohio driver’s license and insurability under Union County’s policy.
  • Must be capable of passing a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation.

Unusual Working Conditions or Hazards:

  • The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); is exposed to possible injury due to unclean or unsanitary conditions; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; has exposure to hazardous driving conditions; has exposure to potentially vicious animals; has exposure to bed bugs, lice, scabies and other insects; works in proximity to the use of firearms; works in or around crowds; ascends and/or descends ladders, stairs, or scaffolds; has to work irregular hours.  NOTE: in Accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical strength ratings, this is considered sedentary work.

Pay Rate:  Starting pay commensurate with education and experience
