Position Title: Public Assistance/Workforce Supervisor

Description: This is a Classified/non-exempt, full-time position in our Ohio Means Jobs unit. The employee provides direct and indirect supervision to Public Assistance and Workforce Development workers or related positions; develops and implements agency and state policy, rules and regulations; performs administrative duties; supervises employees to ensure state and federal mandates are met; implements and coordinates agency programs; attends and plans meetings; handles grievance issues; provides training to staff; promotes positive relationships with customers and partner agencies.
Qualifications: Education/Experience:
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or related fields: public administration,
human services, psychology, criminology, human resources, social work, education; or
equivalent combination of education and work experience which meets the minimum
essential functions of the position. - Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and effective use of technology.
- Minimum of three (3) years related work experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities
in supervision and social services issues.
Other Requirements:
- Valid State of Ohio driver’s license and insurability under Union County’s policy.
- Must be capable of passing a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation.
Unusual Working Conditions or Hazards:
- The employee has exposure to chemical com pounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid,etc.); is exposed to possible injury due to unclean or unsanitary conditions; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; has exposure to hazardous driving conditions; has exposure to potentially vicious animals; has exposure to bed bugs, lice, scabies and other insects; works in proximity to the use of firearms; works in or around crowds; ascends and/or descends ladders, stairs, or scaffolds; has to work irregular hours. NOTE: in Accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical strength ratings, this
is considered sedentary work.
Pay Rate: Starting pay $18.62/hour
