Job Duties in Order of Importance
Essential Functions of the Position
Supervises staff in the following program areas: Intake/Assessment, Ongoing, Protective Services, and Adult Protective Services. Supervises support staff as assigned.
Assigns and monitors workload in the unit. Continually assesses completion of work to
ensure timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with county, state and federal guidelines.
Evaluates, counsels and trains workers, providing them with regular feedback regarding
work performance. Completes timely evaluations of staff and approves or denies leave.
Recommends new hires, transfers, assignments, lay‐offs, promotions, and initiates
disciplinary action. Conducts staff meetings and training sessions covering policies,
procedures, new programming, program changes, etc. Provides coverage in emergency
situations for absent staff.
Responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of services in the assigned
program area. Maintains a working knowledge of innovations in practice for the
assigned program areas through independent research and participation in relevant
trainings and conferences. Develops and implements policies and procedures related to
program objectives that are consistent with state and federal rules, accreditation
standards and best practice. Prepares timely and accurate reports regarding program
areas. Reviews cases for internal monitoring and continuous quality improvement.
Represents the agency at community events and provides information regarding
agency services. Leads and/or participates on internal and external committees to
address specific organizational needs and to support and promote excellent working
relationships with internal partners and key stakeholders in the community.
Provides coverage after hours as an “on call supervisor” on a rotating schedule. Assists
after hours staff in making screening decisions for referrals of maltreatment for
children and adults. Provides guidance and direction to staff to appropriately manage
after hours work.
Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Must show initiative, motivation
and interest in public service.
Non‐Essential Functions of the Position
Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars to maintain a working knowledge of program area
assigned. Other duties as directed by supervisor, administrator and/or director.
Master’s Degree in social work or related field. Prior supervision experience and Bi‐Lingual preferred.
LISW preferred or LSW with evidence of work toward LISW.
Knowledge: Supervision techniques, and employee training and development. Ability to lead and work as a member of a team, provides clear oral and written instructions, and assists in problem solving. Ability to develop, implement and monitor performance improvement plans. Knowledge of laws, rules and best practice standards governing program area(s). Familiar with community
resources specific to family services. Knowledge of treatment team concepts team building skills, and
public relations.
Skills: Proficient in MS Office and SACWIS along with various types of office equipment, keyboarding and
word processing.
Abilities: Guide staff in the use of appropriate assessment tools and professional judgment in program areas. Must be able to fully assess needs of adults, families and children and link them with appropriate
services. Will be required to define problems, collect and analyze data, develop concise, accurate and timely written reports and develop and implement plans for program
improvement. Maintains valid Ohio Driver’s License and insurability through county’s liability coverage.
