Fulton County Job & Family Services has an exciting opportunity for a Social Service Worker 2 within the Children Services Department in the On-Going Unit. A qualified candidate must have the ability to assess family dynamics and draw valid conclusions about child safety, maintain caseload of children/families that have been determined to require the protective assistance of agency and the ability to prepare accurate reports and meet multiple deadlines.

SALARY:  $15.00/hour plus compensation for experience
DIVISION:  Public Children Services Agency
HOURS OF WORK  8:00am to 4:30pm varies, on-call time
POSTING DATE:  June 5th, 2017

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

40% Maintains caseload of children/families who have previously been determined to require the
protective assistance of the services of the agency (i.e., ongoing clients) as determined appropriate
and/or manages caseload of foster care placements. Continues to assess the risk of returning
children home in conjunction with working with the biological parents. Work closely with Foster
Parents and/or Residential Placement agencies and connect children and families to community
resources. Responsible for medical and educational needs of children in custody. Document all
incoming and outgoing calls pertaining to each case into SACWIS. Make required visits to children in
placement. Investigates claims of abuse and neglect of adults over 60 years of age and/or children.
Interview all parties involved, conduct home visits, completes risk assessments and document all
activities for each case.

40% Prepares assigned cases for administrative or judicial procedures as required. Participates in legal
action to establish legal guardianship in cases related to adults over 60 years of age and/or children,
to include testifying in court as necessary. Provide all case information to attorneys and the judge
for pre-trial custody hearings, prepare case plans and case plan amendments in the event of
changes, prepare and conduct semi-annual reviews, appear and/or testify in court for children and
families, prepare children and families for court, schedule annual reviews with prosecutor/court file,
file abuse and neglect complaints.

15% Meets procedural deadlines governing the management of social services cases set by the State of
Ohio and ensures that this documentation is complete. Competes monthly and quarterly reports
and enter events into SACWIS. Completes all reports/paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
Serves as on-call social service worker (e.g. on weekends, holidays and after business hours as
assigned) by working with law enforcement, providing crisis and intervention services, taking initial
reports and making initial contacts as required. Serves on internal /external committees and
attends various agency meetings, as deemed necessary.

3% Attends social service related training, conferences, and other educational programs as required by
rule.

2% Other miscellaneous duties as deemed necessary by Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have completed their undergraduate coursework in social work of a human services
related field.  LSW preferred and experience working with at risk children and families a plus.  A background record check will be required as well as a clean driving record and a valid Driver’s License.

Within two years of hire, must complete state approved 90 hours of CORE Child Welfare training
requirements, and continue to meet the Ohio Revised Code requirements for ongoing training on an annual basis.
