Job Description:

Eligibility Specialists serve a critical purpose at Job & Family Services. ES2s are responsible for determining initial and ongoing eligibility for all public assistance/food stamps based on federal and state regulations and agency policy & evidence presented by assistance group(s); determining eligibility for emergency assistance and self-sufficiency assistance programs; and perform other duties as required.

Strong computer skills are desired given the need to utilize multiple software systems to maintain case records. The ability to manage competing priorities and work well with the public is essential. Excellent organizational skills are needed to effectively and efficiently manage high volume caseloads.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours (or the equivalent number of hours if mixed credits) at an accredited college or university, to include:

  • One (1) course in English Composition or Communication, with a grade of C or better, and
  • One (1) course in Math (Basic Business or higher) with a grade of C or better, and
  • One (1) courses in Social Work, Psychology, or Sociology and One (1) course in Public/Human Relations (an additional course in Social Work, Psychology or Sociology may be substituted as one of these required courses), with a grade of C or better in both courses; cum 2.0 gpa or above.

Bargaining Unit position - pay grade 28A = $16.35/hr.
