Child Protective Caseworker (Social Services Worker 2)

Job Description:

The Jackson County Department of Job and Family Services – Child Protective Services team is committed to the safety and well-being of children. 

The team is looking for highly-motivated, compassionate and detail-oriented individuals that are up to the challenge of building safe and stable living settings for children and families. Individuals should have a passion and drive for promoting family accountability that strengthens family bonds, parental engagement and enhances child well-being.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

Maintains ongoing protective services caseload; Provides supportive counseling to children and families; Conducts case management services for clients with challenges such as family adjustments, employment, food, clothing, housing and physical, mental or behavioral impairments; Provides on call, 24-hour emergency intake of case referrals; Secures information such as medical, psychological and social factors contributing to family conditions; Coordinates/collaborates with mental/behavioral health care providers, schools, law enforcement and family support professionals to align and deliver supportive services.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants must have strong written and verbal communication skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment and value the diversity of the Appalachian community. Interested applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in social work or related degree (Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice) or a master’s degree in social work or related degree. All positions are subject to a criminal background, fingerprinting, employment verification and motor vehicle report check.
