Starting Pay: $13.81 +3% increase after successful completion of probation

The Social Service Worker 1 provides support to families, children, older adults, providers and staff within Family and Children Services. The employee may determine eligibility for publicly funded social services programs, conduct certification for county social services providers, monitor compliance of county social services providers. The Social Services Worker 1 arranges or provides for transportation and/or health care services and makes referrals as needed to appropriate Agency unit or community agency. The worker establishes and maintains contact with community agencies, education entities, medical providers, and other government agencies to coordinate referrals and follow-up on services rendered.
- Completion of undergraduate major core coursework or two years technical training in behavioral science, social science, early childhood development technology, education or related field or equivalent education, training, or experience.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and required insurance. and maintain a safe and reliable vehicle that may be used in transporting clients of JFS.
- This position requires the incumbent to access non-ADA compliant homes or facilities.

Unusual Working Conditions/Hazards:
Applicant must have the physical and visual ability to enter homes and facilities that may not be ADA accessible. This position involves regular exposure to environmental factors (i.e. cold, excessive heat, noise, fumes, vibration, dirt) during interviews and meetings conducted outside of the office. The position may involve lifting or carrying children, carrying and installing child car seats and exposure to contagious diseases. No heavy labor is involved; however, risk of injury stems from going in and out of conditions that may or may not be safe. The incumbent may occasionally interact with angry or hostile clients.
