Position Description:

Clark County Department of Job and Family Services (CCDJFS) is seeking an Assistant Director. The position is responsible for a variety of administrative duties, develops and implements agency and state policy, rules and regulations as well as agency programs for assigned areas and act as director in the absence of the Job & Family Services Director. This position oversees various areas such as the agency’s Employee Performance Evaluation System; the Performance Management Unit compiling and analyzing data to drive system and program improvements and acts as the agency liaison to the county’s Human Resources department. Specific area responsibilities will be based upon selected applicant’s background and agency need. Develops evaluation tools for various Agency programs to assess effectiveness of programs; assists Division Deputy Directors in implementation of organizational and management improvements; provides technical assistance as needed; oversees fiscal duties for assigned areas.

The successful candidate must be a strong visionary leader with excellent follow through, ability to plan, organize and prioritize. He or she must be highly resourceful, creative and self-motivated, while being a strong, enthusiastic, persuasive advocate and leader who is able to motivate individuals to achieve results. The candidate will have demonstrated ability to develop programs and build strong collaborative partnerships. He or she must have a strong service mentality; be a team player, a hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, customer-focused environment. He or she must be a good listener with the ability to provide current, direct and actionable feedback to others, with a commitment to developing a strong team. The candidate must be able to maintain positive relations with a variety of constituents including customers, staff, government agencies, courts and law enforcement officials. He or she must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Serves as liaison with public and private sector employers and other organizations; attends meetings; provides advice to various public and private officials.

This position is part of the Agency Executive Leadership Team and reports directly to the Director of Job & Family Services. CCDJFS is a quadruple-combined agency. Other divisions within the Agency administer workforce development, child support enforcement, and family and children services.

The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, or a related Human Services field (Master’s Degree preferred) plus a minimum of ten years’ experience with demonstrated experience at a key administrative level with significant supervisory experience; and a demonstrated commitment to cultural competence and diversity. Demonstrated ability to work in a variety of computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Power Point, advanced Excel, and Access.

CCDJFS offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes a competitive salary, health and dental insurance and Public Employees Retirement System. Yearly salary range for this position is $73,132 to $102,377 dependent upon experience and education.
