Other participants enter the program with low self-esteem.  While these are clearly not ideal conditions for a positive learning environment, there are strategies programs can use to bolster a participant’s enthusiasm fairly quickly. This session will cover the major factors influencing engagement, motivation and participation from entry through post-placement services.  Learn from Jodie Sue Kelly’s experience with more than 70 technical assistance projects that helped national, state and local programs enhance performance in areas such as improving participants’ job placement and retention, increasing outcomes of youth employment programs, and improving work activity participation rates in TANF welfare-to-work programs.
