Job Description
This is a classified, non-exempt, full-time position in our Workforce/Ohio Means Jobs work unit. The primary duties of this position include: interviewing public assistance applicants concerning their eligibility for agency programs and services (e.g. food assistance, cash assistance, Medicaid, and/or child care assistance) to determine their initial and/or ongoing eligibility; and/or conducting initial interviews and/or assessments of clients for a variety of workforce development programs and seeking to resolve barriers to employment; and/or contacting employers to solicit employment opportunities; and/or interviewing and assessing clients who may be eligible for Supplemental Security Income (i.e. SSI) and assisting them in the SSI application process.
Qualifications - Education/Experience:
- Preferred Associate degree or above in human services, behavioral or social science, education or related field;
- OR education or experience in interviewing techniques, business math, case preparation techniques, business writing, customer service techniques and computer technology;
- OR high school diploma (or equivalent) plus work experience which meets the minimum essential functions of the position.
Other Requirements:
- Valid State of Ohio driver’s license and insurability under Union County’s policy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and critical thinking skills.
- Effective use of technology and ability to prioritize, establish and meet deadlines and multi-task.
- Must be capable of passing a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation. Pay Rate: Starting pay $14.23/hour Benefits: This position is eligible for a full range of insurance benefits, including participation in the comprehensive health, dental, vision and life insurance programs. Also eligible for paid holidays, paid sick leave, vacation leave, and participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
