Job Description: 

The Director leads the agency responsible for determining client eligibility for various forms of economic assistance/benefits, and then providing those benefits to approved clients. These forms of assistance include but are not limited to temporary cash assistance, food stamps, Medicaid and subsidized child care, as well as collection and disbursement of child support.

Essential Functions: 

Include but are not limited to overall responsibility for the day-to-day administration and financial management of the agency’s services, the establishment of professional policies and procedures necessary to carry out the agency’s mission and objectives, and planning, organizing and leading specific operations and communication of programs and services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: social sciences, social work, business administration, finance, or public administration AND a minimum of five (5) years of documented administrative and managerial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, to include responsibility for development and/or delivery of programs and services, development of policies, and accountability for preparing and/or monitoring a budget, with at least three (3) of those years in a management position that exceeds the responsibilities of a front-line supervisor; experience should also include leading multiple separate divisions within an organization toward the completion of common goals and objectives. Experience working in a Union environment with labor negotiations is preferred. Prior public agency experience preferred.
