POSITION OVERVIEW: 

The Assistant Director will uphold the highest customer service standard and quality, working directly with the Executive Director to oversee the planning, development, evaluation, and implementation of various Agency services. Works closely with the Executive Director to provide strategic leadership to advance Agency programmatic vision and to implement and expand innovative initiatives and strategies that help individuals and businesses achieve and sustain economic vitality in the region. Communicates mission, vision, values, and goals to motivate and empower team to meet desired Agency and program outcomes to implement the highest quality services. Collaborates with all agency areas to enhance mission and vision. This position description is not all-inclusive; position requires dedication, adaptability, and commitment to the agency above all else.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE JOB:

95% The Assistant Director will provide direct administration of various assigned programs. Identifies deficiencies and coordinates solutions. Responsible for overseeing daily operations and oversight of assigned programs and building(s). Identifies local, state and federal policy changes and legislative proposals to aid the Executive Director in decision making. Works collaboratively with grant writers to identify and apply for grants and funding sources outside the Agency. Oversees implementation of new programs and policies as needed. Creates innovative methods to expand opportunities and approaches to bring a meaningful impact on programs and services. Works closely to engage community and state partners to address customer and community needs. Ensures all federal, state, and local rules and regulations are followed as they relate to assigned programs. Directs division staff, manages, assigns, and reviews work, completes employee evaluations, initiates disciplinary actions, assigns, and monitors cases as needed, trains workers as needed, conducts staff meetings, and keeps staff informed of changes in procedures, programs, policies, and techniques. Evaluates and recommends staffing needs. Resolves complaints. Maintains statistical data and analyzes and evaluates data related to performance standards, audit compliance, and program effectiveness. Prepares reports and presents information. Oversees the coordination of agency site visits, reviews, audits, and requests for information for responsible programs. Maintains and monitors partnerships for effectiveness and compliance. Develops and monitors program contracts and subgrant agreements in collaboration with fiscal department. Attends regional, area, and state meetings. Acts as agency representative with ODJFS on related matters. Writes correspondence/reports. Liaison with various regional, state, and national agencies, boards, and employers. Performs other duties as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
5% +/- 2% Other duties as assigned. May be required to perform duties under supervision of the Athens County Red Cross during an emergency, in accordance with the Athens County Department of Job and Family Services Disaster Preparedness Plan and Emergency Procedures.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Forward thinking visionary with a modern management philosophy. Passionate self-starter with proven track record of successful programming and the ability to delegate effectively and efficiently. Bachelor’s degree in related field plus two (2) years’ experience as supervisor in delivery of related programming, or five (5) years’ experience as supervisor in delivery of related programming, or ten (10) years’ experience in delivery of related programming; valid Ohio Driver’s License required prior to appointment. Advanced degree preferred.
