Job Description:

Union County is now hiring a Senior Services Supervisor to join the Senior Services unit. Under general supervision of the Program Manager, provides direct and indirect supervision to service coordinators/social workers and Adult Protective Services staff, develops and implements agency and state policy, rules and regulations. Assists in coordinating agency events, implements and coordinates agency programs, attends and plans meetings, provides training to staff, promotes positive relationships with partner agencies.

Qualifications:

An example of acceptable qualifications: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in one of the following or related field: public administration, human services, human resources, social work or education. Master's degree in one of the above fields preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Minimum of two (2) years related work experience in the social services field; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licensure or Certification Requirements:

Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy.

Inherently Hazardous or Physically Demanding Working Conditions:

The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); is exposed to possible injury due to unclean or unsanitary conditions; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; has exposure to hazardous driving conditions; has exposure to potentially vicious animals; has exposure to bed bugs, lice, scabies and other insects; works in or around crowds; ascends and/or descends ladders, stairs, or scaffolds; has to work irregular hours. Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered sedentary work.

Essential Functions:

60% (1) Oversees activities for Senior Services, Adult Protective Services and other divisions as assigned; supervises assigned staff (e.g., interviews applicants and makes recommendation for hiring, disciplines subordinates when necessary, completes employee performance evaluations, trains new and current employees, assigns work and reviews for accuracy and timeliness, etc.). Assists in monitoring budget and planning for annual budget. Works with staff to improve quality of services and makes program improvement recommendations to Program Manager. 20% (2) Assists in preparing monthly newsletter including writing articles; assists Program Manager in promoting Senior Services by establishing rapport with key community partners, planning and coordinating events; performs Medicaid/insurance counseling; monitors grants and prepares reports. 20% (3) Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and Director of Human Services. (4) Maintains required licensures, certification, and continuing education requirements, if any. (5) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions. (6) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. (7) Attends staff meetings as assigned.

Ability to: Carry out instructions in written, oral, or picture form; deal problems involving several variables within a familiar context; interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, picture, or schedule form; recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; prepare accurate documentation; maintain records according to established procedures; respond to routine inquiries from public and/or officials; communicate effectively with a diverse public and professional audience; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communication; exercise independent judgment and discretion; operate photography equipment; compile and prepare reports; gather, collate, and classify information; travel to and gain access to work site; develop and maintain effective working relationships; perform job safely.
